3 Ways To Get Book Reviews

Would you like to learn how to get tons of reviews for your newly launched book?

Having worked with more than 300 authors, we’ve noticed that some of them receive many reviews for their new book. But how do they do it?

After talking with these authors, I was able to uncover three secrets for gaining a large number of excellent reviews for your new book. However, before we get into that, let me clarify the importance of book reviews.

The importance of book reviews

In this modern age, we seek social proof before agreeing to buy a product or service. We want to know what previous customers thought about the product and if the positive reviews outweigh the negative. This buying process also applies to books.

If you want your book to do well in the long run, it’s vital that it starts getting positive reviews from the moment it’s published. In my video, How Do You Make Your Book a Best Seller, I talk about a range of book promotional websites that can help you to promote your new book. However, none of these websites will accept a book without any positive reviews, which demonstrates just how essential it is that your book gets the reviews it needs immediately after its launch.

So, what are the three methods that will help you get more book reviews? Let’s find out:

1. Book Launch Team

Your book launch team should have at least 50 people in it. You’ll rely on your launch team to leave a review as soon as your book goes live. To help you along with this, it’s worth scheduling your book on a free promo for each member of your launch team. They will follow up by downloading your book, reading it and leaving you a verified review on Amazon or another reading platform.

If you want to get ahead of the launch date and ensure your book gets quick reviews after its release, I advise you to provide a PDF version of the book to your launch team members in advance.

The main issue here is the sad truth that only a select number of people will actually want to read your entire book before the launch. The best way to appeal to more people and encourage them to sit down with your book is to tell them to either read the introduction chapter or a few pages so they can get a sense of what the book is about.

Most people who have never reviewed a product before will have no idea how to review a book. Help them out by providing a step-by-step guide that outlines the review process. By doing this, you’ll avoid one-liner reviews, and receive well-thought-out reviews that hold a lot more value.

In your guide, ask your launch team to answer one or a few of these questions:

  • What is the one thing that you learned from this book?
  • What things stood out to you from this book?
  • What is it that you’re going to implement after reading this book?
  • Who would you recommend this book to?

By answering a few of these questions, it’s more likely that your team will compose a better and more credible review of your book.

2. Ask readers to leave a review at the end of the book

The second method to get more reviews for your new book is to end your book with a review request for the reader. It can be something simple and straightforward such as, “Hey, I hope you found this book useful and got a lot of value out of it. It will help me to reach this message to a lot more people if you go ahead and leave a genuine review for this book. Click here to go ahead and review the book.”

Make sure to include the hyperlink that will take the reader to your book’s Amazon page. Reaching out to your readers like this ensures that at least 10% of them will review your book.

3. Reach out to reviewers who have shown interest in similar books

The final method is to reach out to readers who have already left reviews for similar books on Amazon. Many people enjoy reviewing books, and it’s more of a hobby for them.

So, how can you reach out to these book reviewers?

The first step is to make a list of all the books that are very similar to your book. Then, look inside for the reviewer’s information to retrieve their contact details. You can either do this manually or use a targeters software such as this one getbookreviewsnow.com created by my friend Debbie Drum.

Targeters software allows you to enter all of the information you collected into the software and then it will give you the contact information of the reviewers. Once you have this information, politely reach out to them and ask if they would like to review your book. You can then send them a copy of your book and let them read it so that they can write a valuable review for your new book.

If you do these three things, you will be able to get the initial reviews you desperately need to promote your new book.
